The Democratic Party is very proud of its diverse slate of outstanding candidates this year.

■ Bill Owens — 23rd Congressional District. Bill's leadership in Developing Economic Growth in the Plattsburgh area can be seen as a template for our region. He is dedicated to cutting waste and investing in "growth jobs." As a veteran, he understands the enormous importance of keeping Fort Drum strong.

■ Kim Martusewicz — Jefferson County judge. He carries the largest felony caseload outside New York City and has shown true leadership in adjudicating cases. His experience will continue to carry us through difficult times.

■ Gertrude Karris — Jefferson County clerk. How many of us have stood in long lines at the Department of Motor Vehicles? How many of you have driven to another town to get away from those long lines? Gert has the answers to get those lines moving.

Jefferson County Legislature candidates:

■ Paul Simmons — Rutland and town of Watertown. Paul is a successful business leader who has continually given back to his community. His commitment to lowering taxes and tireless advocacy for children and families makes him the ideal candidate.

■ Allen Drake — Antwerp, Philadelphia, Theresa, part of LeRay and Fort Drum. He has been a town supervisor and now serves on the county Legislature, bringing with him strong community experience and leadership skills.

■ Gary Trombley — Wilna, Evans Mills, part of Fort Drum. He has run a successful home health aide company even during the toughest business climates. His experience with business, health and senior issues will serve him well in the Legislature.

■ Pat (Patsy) Storino — Adams, Lorraine, Rodman and Worth. He owns a Surveying Company. Patsy's eye for detail, his "go-getter" attitude and his long-standing connection to the community make him the perfect choice to represent his district

■ James St. Croix — North side of the City of Watertown and the Sand Flats. He is the strong voice of experience that the Legislature needs. He will continue to commit himself full-time to fight for the needs of Watertown.

I encourage you to exercise your constitutional American rights and vote Tuesday. Together we can move the north country in a positive direction for all its residents.
