POTSDAM — The Clarkson University women's hockey team scored two late goals to earn a 2-0 victory over Yale in an ECAC Hockey game Saturday at Cheel Arena.
The game was scoreless until Clarkson's Carlee Eusepi scored at 11 minutes, 59 seconds of the third period. Britney Selina added a power-play goal for the Golden Knights (9-1-1 overall, 3-0 ECAC Hockey) at 15:19.
Lauren Dahm made 17 saves to shut out the Bulldogs (0-2-1, 0-2).
ST. LAWRENCE 3, BROWN 1
Britni Smith led the Saints (4-2-3, 2-1) with one goal and one assist in an ECAC Hockey win over the Bears in Canton.
Kayla Sullivan and Michelle Ng also scored for SLU. Sasha Van Muyen scored for the Bears (1-3, 0-2).
SUNY POTSDAM 2, SALVE REGINA 1
Stephanie Simons scored a power-play goal with 21 seconds left to give the Bears (1-0) a win over Salve Regina in a nonconference game in Potsdam.
Salve Regina (1-1) was called for having too many players on the ice with 1:21 remaining.
Stephanie Dwyer also scored for SUNY Potsdam. Molly Golden scored for Salve Regina.
MEN'S HOCKEY
SUNY GENESEO 3, SUNY POTSDAM 2
Kaz Iwamoto scored what turned out to be the game-winning goal with 65 seconds left in the third period to give the Knights a SUNYAC win over the Bears (1-1) in Potsdam.
Dan Brown and Jake Yard also scored for the Knights (1-3, 1-1). Todd Hosmer and Connor Treacy scored for SUNY Potsdam, with Treacy's goal coming just 15 seconds after Iwamoto's.
FOOTBALL
SUSQUEHANNA 21, ST. LAWRENCE 7
Dave Paveletz rushed for 144 yards on 28 carries to lead Susquehanna (6-2, 4-1) past the Saints in a Liberty League game in Canton.
Mike Ritter caught two touchdown passes from Rich Palazzi, who threw for 167 yards, for Susquehanna.
SLU (2-6, 1-4) was led by Connor Hackett, who gained 58 yards on 16 carries. Tim Robinson scored the only touchdown for the Saints on a 14-yard pass from J.P. Kearney.
COLGATE 27, LEHIGH 20
Greg Sullivan threw four touchdown passes and Colgate beat Lehigh in Hamilton.
Sullivan went 11-for-21 for 196 yards, including three touchdown passes to Pat Simonds for 6, 46 and 20 yards for the Red Raiders (8-1, 3-1 Patriot League).
The Mountain Hawks are 2-6, 2-1.
MEN'S SOCCER
ST. LAWRENCE 6, CLARKSON 2
Joey Mattina scored two goals and added two assists to lead the Saints (8-6-1, 2-5) in a Liberty League game in Potsdam.
Brendan Gorman and Reed Carr each had one goal and one assist, and Sam DeMello and Alex Laird also scored for the Saints. Mark Secko and Brody Boomer scored for Clarkson (5-8-3, 0-5-2).
ALFRED STATE 1, JEFFERSON CC 0 (OT)
The No. 9 Cannoneers were beaten by No. 8 Alfred State in overtime in the first round of the NJCAA Region 3 Division III playoffs at Alfred.
Musanari Yamamdjo scored for the winners.
Brandon Davis made nine saves in goal for JCC, which finished 6-7-2.
CROSS COUNTRY
SAINTS SWEEP TITLES
SLU's men's and women's teams both claimed titles at the Saratoga Invitational.
The Saint men had four of the top seven runner and finished with 29 points. The Rochester Institute of Technology was second with 46. SLU's women took the top three spots and finished with 21 points. Ithaca was second with 65.
Dan Ramsey won the men's race, finishing the 8 kilometers in 5 minutes, 6.2 seconds. Wendy Pavlus took first in the women's 5-kilometer race in 17:24.12.
SWIMMING AND DIVING
BEARS SPLIT IN SKIDMORE
Scott Laine and Edward McIntyre each won two individual events to lead the SUNY Potsdam men's team to a 130-82 win over host Skidmore College. Skidmore won the women's meet 133-98.
Laine won the 1,000-meter freestyle and 100 backstroke for the Bears in the season opener. McIntyre took the 50 and 100 freestyles. Sonia Segal-Smith led the Skidmore women with wins in the 200 freestyle, 500 freestyle and 100 breaststroke.
