Porterdale Farms named Conservation Farm of Year

ADAMS— The Jefferson County Soil and Water Conservation District will honor Porterdale Farms as the 2009 Conservation Farm of the Year at a dinner at 7 p.m. Thursday.

This award honors a farmer who puts forth a particularly strong effort to conserve natural resources. Porterdale Farms is being recognized for participating in the Agriculture Environmental Program.

Also during the dinner, Janet Goodnough will present the Dairy of Distinction Award.

The dinner will take place at Lucia's Restaurant, 11613 Route 11. The cost of the dinner is $20. Reservations are required. For more information, call the Jefferson County Soil and Water Conservation District at 782-2749.
