West Carthage man indicted in rape case

A West Carthage man has been indicted on a charge that he forcibly raped a 20-year-old woman in early October.

Brandon S. Randolph,21, faces counts of first-degree rape, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, second-degree menacing, third-degree assault and endangering the welfare of a child.

The charges were contained in a grand jury indictment handed up Monday in Jefferson County Court.

It is alleged that he engaged in forcible sexual intercourse with the woman Oct. 9. It further is alleged that he threatened her with a knife, shoved her and struck her several times on the head and jaw. The altercation allegedly occurred in the presence of a 1-year-old child.

Other indictments handed up Monday:

Patrick L. Collins,59, Black River, faces counts of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon and second-degree menacing. It is alleged that he threatened Tanya M. Tibbles, Watertown, with a knife Sept. 14 in Watertown.

Larry Cameron Jr.,25, faces two counts of third-degree criminal possession of stolen property for allegedly having three stolen rings from the town of LeRay home of Elizabeth Beaman.Christopher M. Swem,26, faces one count of the same crime for also allegedly possessing rings stolen from the Beaman residence.

It is alleged the Watertown men tried to sell the rings Aug. 14 at Square Lion Coin and Jewelry Store, 91 Public Square. Mr. Swem also is charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance for allegedly having cocaine at the time of his arrest.

Stephen M. Schmidt,28, Watertown, is charged with first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, misdemeanor aggravated driving while intoxicated and failure to signal. It is alleged he drove drunk while his driver's license was suspended May 23 on Factory Street. He also made a right turn without signaling, according to the indictment.

The grand jury also returned two prosecutor's informations, bringing misdemeanor charges against two people.

David L. Tomlin Jr.,26, Watertown, is charged with third-degree obscenity, endangering the welfare of a child and unlawfully dealing with a child. He initially was charged March 19 with third-degree rape in connection with an incident involving a teenage girl.

Delilah Roberson,20, Fort Drum, faces a count of endangering the welfare of a child. She was accused in June of engaging in a domestic fight in the presence of a 3-month-old baby.
