WADDINGTON — The village board decided at a Monday night meeting not to apply for another, larger, grant to study disincorporating itself.
The board was advised by Camoin Associates, an economic development company based in Saratoga Springs, to apply for a $50,000 grant from the state to do a more complete dissolution study. However, trustees declined to apply, opting instead to do only what could be done with a $25,000 grant that it has been awarded. Though the grant was awarded over the summer, the village has not yet hired someone to do the study.
The village would have to pay 10 percent of the grant award and was hesitant to commit more money when trustees did not know if the study would determine that dissolution would benefit the taxpayers, trustees said.
