MASSENA — Fay Motors, which four months ago was informed by General Motors that it would lose its franchise, has gotten a reprieve.

Owners Gill A. and Michael J. Viskovich lobbied GM this fall to be named a certified service center for Cadillacs. They also sent an appeal of GM's initial decision, although the appeal focused on being named a service center. GM subsequently informed the firm, which has been a Cadillac dealer for 55 years, that it had reconsidered its decision and would restore the dealership.

The deal was finalized Oct. 26.
