WATSON — A graveside service for Marion A. "Boots" Everts, 92, is scheduled for Saturday, November 7, 2009, at Beaches Bridge Cemetery at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Bruce Chapman, retired minister officiating.
Mrs. Everts died on November 2, 2009, at the Lewis County Residential Health Care Facility where she had resided since 2002. She had lived in the Syracuse area most of her life.
Mrs. Everts was born on July 26, 1917, in Clay, NY a daughter of Bill and Janet Smith Whalen and was proud to say that her maternal great grandfather was a Civil War veteran who fought for the Union. After graduation from Syracuse High School, Mrs. Everts was employed by General Electric Heavy Military Division and was one of the first woman welders to work on radio towers for ships. She retired from GE as a payroll clerk in 1976.
On June 12, 1945, she married Homer J. Everts in Syracuse. After their retirement they moved to the town of Watson, where they lived for 26 years. Mr. Everts passed away in 2002.
"Boots" collected horses and enjoyed painting, crocheting, fishing, hunting and doing yard work.
She had one known sister, Winifred Bishop of Chittenango and several nieces and nephews.
