A Watertown woman who allegedly tackled her boyfriend Tuesday morning and threatened to kill him with a bowie knife was jailed Wednesday under $15,000 bail.
Renee E. Gokey, 38, of 235 Central St., was arraigned Wednesday morning before Watertown City Judge James C. Harberson on charges of first-degree unlawful imprisonment, second-degree menacing, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, resisting arrest and harassment. She was placed in the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building and awaits grand jury action.
City police said she is accused in a fight that occurred in her home at about 9:30 a.m. Tuesday involving Robert C. Rennie, 38, same address. A police document lists him as her boyfriend.
Police said Ms. Gokey tackled and held down Mr. Rennie, punched him in the back of the head several times, and pointed the knife at him. While holding the knife, she is alleged to have said “I will kill you before you ever leave,” according to police documents.
Officers alleged that she later scuffled with them when they attempted to take her into custody.
The weapon charge is a felony because her criminal record makes it illegal for her to possess a weapon. Police said she was convicted of resisting arrest in 1988 in Carthage Village Court.
