W. Boyd Jones

CANTON — W. Boyd Jones, 56, of Old DeKalb Road, died unexpectedly Sunday, Nov. 1, 2009 at his home.

Funeral services will be Friday, Nov. 6th at 2:00 PM from the Lawrence Funeral Home, Canton with Rev. Douglas J. Lucia officiating. Calling hours will be Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the funeral home.

Surviving are his mother, Marion M. Jones of Union City, TN; his wife, Lynne N. Jones of Canton; daughter, Alicia Jones of Canton; step-children, Aimee Nash of Canton and Ryan Nash and wife Cassandra of Raymondville; two brothers, Thomas and wife Ginnie of Buchanan, TN, Richard and wife Jeanie of Old Hickory, TN; one sister, Jenny Joy Fitch of Nashville, TN; four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Born September 28, 1953, in Obion, TN, a son of Thomas W. and Marion (Moore) Jones, he graduated Albion County Central School and later with a B.S. from Middle Tennessee State University in 1975. Mr. Jones furthered his education with a B.A. from SUNY Potsdam in 1995 and a Master's in Education from SUNY Potsdam in 1999.

On August 6, 1988, he married Lynne Nash at the Unitarian Universalist Church in Canton with Rev. Max Coots as celebrant.

Boyd was employed as Sports Info Director for SUNY Potsdam , where he worked since 2000. Prior to working in Potsdam, he worked at SUNY Canton from 1986-2000, where he held various positions.

In his spare time Boyd enjoyed photography, cooking, the outdoors and attending his daughters sporting events.
