MASSENA — Memorial services for Stanley B. Moore Sr., 79, of Windsor Road, Massena will take place at the convenience of the family. There will be no public services or calling hours.

At the family's request memorial contributions may be made to the Massena Humane Society or the American Heart and Stroke Association, or to a charity of one's Choice.

Stanley passed away November 2, 2009 at the St. Regis Nursing Home, surrounded by his family.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth of Massena; his daughter and son-in-law, Joanne and Grant Martin of Louisville, NY; a son and daughter-in-law, Stanley Jr. and Barbara Moore of Belgrade, Maine; brother, Albert Moore of Vienna, Va.; sisters, Thelma Ravinski of Norfolk, MA and Muriel Wise of Franklin, MA; grandchildren, Jack Henry Moore, Ella Moore, Lily Moore, all of Belgrade Maine; brother-in-law, Thomas McManus; sister in-law, Marion McManus; several nieces and nephews; his faithful companion, "Jack," his dog.

He was predeceased by his parents, George and Helen (Treen) Moore; brothers-in-law, Edward Ravinski and Robert McManus; sister- in-law, Patricia Moore; mother and father-in-law, Nora and Harry McManus; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Helen and Andrew Johnson; sisters-in-law, Catherine McManus, Wilma McManus; and nephew, Henry "Bud" Johnson.

He was born September 8, 1930, in Norwood Mass, the son of George and Helen (Treen) Moore. Stanley graduated from Walpole High School, in Walpole, MA, Wilbraham Academy in MA, and Clarkson University class of 1954.

He married Elizabeth McManus on December 15, 1951. Mr. Moore started work in 1959 and was employed for 30 years at the Massena Central High School. At one time he worked for B. Perreni & Sons as an accountant during the construction of the Seaway, and worked for the family restaurant, McManus Good Foods in Potsdam.

In high school Stanley received the Bay Shore League MVP for Hockey. At Clarkson, he was a member of the men's hockey and baseball team. He coached both JV and Varsity Hockey at Massena High School and the golf teams. He also was a referee for area college hockey games.

Coach Moore took the Massena High School Hockey Team to the States and won the State Championship on several occasions. He coached the Clarkson Freshman Hockey team.

He was a member of the Red Tavern Hunting Club, Massena Country Club, Massena Elks, and Italian American Club, a member of the Massena High School Hall of Fame and the NYS Hockey Coaches Hall of Fame, a member of the American Hockey Coaches Association, and received the John Mariucci Award in 1996. He was a lifetime member of NYS High School Hockey Coaches Association.

He was a past member of the Massena Moose, Potsdam Town & Country Club, Massena Minor Hockey. He was a past Golf Champion at both Massena Country Club and Potsdam Town & Country which he won on more than one occasion.

Stanley loved hockey and golf, and his favorite teams were the Boston Bruins and Boston Red Sox.
