William D. Delosh

HANNAWA FALLS — A Mass of Christian burial for William D. Delosh, 75, of Hannawa Falls, will be held on Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Church in Potsdam, with Rev. Garry Giroux celebrant.

Mr. Delosh passed away on Tuesday (Nov. 3, 2009) after a short illness at his home in the town of Pierrepont.

Friends may call on Thursday from 3-7 p.m. at the Garner Funeral Home, Potsdam.

Bill is survived by his wife, Helene Delosh of Hannawa Falls; daughters Robin (Robert) Durocher of Canton and Renee and Michael Asterino of Cicero; daughter in law Jodi Delosh of Saranac Lake; brothers Frederick (Ruth) Delosh of Norfolk and Robert (Linda) Delosh of Potsdam; sisters Patricia Sullivan of Star Lake and Jean Kelly of Central Square; step son Steven (Sharon) Bassette of St. Johns, Mich.; step daughter Terri (John) Andolina of Rochester; seven grandchildren, Ryan, Trent and Danielle Durocher; Morgan, Mckenzie and Madison Douglas and Chayse Delosh; four stepgrandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his two sons, Ricky and Randy Delosh, and an infant daughter Mary Delosh.

He was born Sept. 28, 1934 in Potsdam, the son of Percy F. and Maeford S. (Vorce) Delosh. He attended Potsdam and Clifton Fine schools.

He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War from Dec. 4, 1951 until his honorable discharge on Sept. 23, 1955.

He had a marriage to Shirley Emerson that ended in divorce. He then married Helene Rixon in Craig, Colo., on March 5, 1988.

He worked at Niagara Mohawk for 35 years, where he held various positions. He was a lineman for years. He then was the vice president and then president of the Local 846 Union from 1969 until 1986. Then he became the chairman of the System Council U 11 of the IBEW. He held that position from 1986 until his retirement in 1993.

Bill was an avid golfer and enjoyed boating.

Mr. and Mrs. Delosh lived on the water in Hannawa Falls and spent their winters in Lake Placid, Fla.
