Marguerite "Marge" Plato, of Central Square, passed away on Tuesday, November 3, 2009, at Crouse-Irving Hospital in Syracuse. She was born in Chaumont, New York and lived there until the family moved to Central Square in 1967.

Marge served on many committees with the Chaumont Presbyterian Church and later with the Hastings Presbyterian Church. She served as past President of the Lyme Central PTA and the Lyme Republican Club. She was a member of the Chaumont Fire Auxiliary, Order of Eastern Stars, and the MIA and Central Square Senior Citizen groups. Marge retired with the Village of Central Square where she served as Village Clerk.

Marge is predeceased by her husband Francis H. Plato; two brothers Gerald E. Shaw of Syracuse and Harlan C. Shaw of Ocala, FL (formerly of Central Square); and a sister Loretta S. Ramsey of Cicero (formerly of Zephyrhills, FL). She is survived by two daughters Sharon L. (Brent) Smith of Holiday, FL, and Karen A. (Ken) Maughan of Brewerton; one son David K. (Rosalie) Plato of Brewerton; sister Pearl S. Knapp of Boulder, CO; five grandchildren Michael Plato, Kirk Smith, Rebecca (Maughan) Gabriel and Trevor Maughan; three step grandsons William (Janet) Bell, Scott (Eloise) Coleman, and Don Coleman; and eight great grandchildren.

Funeral Service: Monday, 11:00 a.m. at the Cicero United Methodist Church, Cicero, NY. Calling Hours: Sunday 1 to 4 p.m. at Traub Funeral Home, 684 N. Main Street, Central Square. Burial will be Tuesday, 12:00 p.m. in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Chaumont, NY. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 6725 Lyons Street, PO Box 7, E.
