BOONVILLE — Madge J. Damuth, 91, a former resident of East Schuyler St., passed away on Wednesday, November 4, 2009, at the Heritage Health Care Center, Utica. Before living at the Heritage Center, she had resided in Fonda, and then with her daughter, Mae King, in Sharon Springs.

She was born in Lashburn, Saskatchewan, Canada, on January 14, 1918, a daughter of William C. and Mabel M. Solom Jackson. When she was nine, her family moved to the United States, where they settled in Port Leyden, where she attended school, before completing her education in Turin. Mrs. Damuth was employed as a nurse's assistant at the Lowville Hospital, and in several area nursing homes. In 1980, she retired after several years of employment at Marcy Psychiatric Center.

On May 10, 1937, Madge was united in marriage with Ralph H. Damuth, Sr. at the home of the bride in Turin. Mr. Damuth died on October 27, 1983.

She was a member of First Baptist Church of Boonville, Boonville Young at Heart Senior Citizens, Leyden Senior Citizens, Constableville Senior Citizens, and the Boonville Chamber of Commerce. Mrs. Damuth had also served as Chaplain the Ladies Auxiliary of Harland J. Hennessey Post VFW of Boonville. For many years she and her husband served on the Turin Fire Company, where she was a member of the ladies auxiliary.

She is survived by two daughters; Alice L. Damuth, Schenectady, Ms. Betty E. Damuth, Tupelo, MS., one son, Ralph H. Damuth, Jr., Baileyville, ME, Madge was predeceased by a daughter Mae King on October 9, 2007, and by a son Carl, who died as an infant in 1939, and a sister Jane A. Flansburg on May 3, 2009. Also surviving are many grandchildren, and great grandchildren, and two sisters; Doreen Carpenter, Boonville, and Miss Edna Jackson, Lowville.

Her funeral will be Friday at 1:00 PM at the Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, where Pastor Joe Feller, from the First Baptist Church of Boonville, will officiate. Interment will be in Turin Cemetery. Visitation is Friday 12 Noon until the funeral. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Boonville.
