CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Edwards native Tim Fuller suffered a possible broken nose, a black eye and facial cuts after the veteran World of Outlaws late model driver was struck by a clump of dirt about the size of a football during a heat race at the dirt track at Lowe's Speedway on Wednesday.

"The track is never really in good condition and it was worse Wednesday night," Fuller said. "My helmet was also damaged beyond repair."

Two other drivers, Chubb Frank and Jeff Cooke, received more serious injuries when they were also struck by large pieces of dirt that flew into the cockpit of their cars.

Watertown native Tim McCreadie is also competing at Lowe's Speedway in the world championships that run through the rest of this week. He suffered a flat tire in his heat race Thursday but escaped possible injury.
