Let’s hope local Republicans learned something from race

Well, thanks a lot, NY-23. You have voted for yet another tax-and-spend liberal. Now our children will know whom to thank when they have to spend most of their adult life fixing all of the debt that we laid upon them. I don’t think people get it.

I asked one of my co-workers the other day, “Do you support tax increases?” Her reply astonished me: “Well, we need to do something to fix this mess.”

Raising taxes is not the way. Economics 101 tells you that any time you raise the price on an item, that item will be purchased less. Or in the case of taxes, if my taxes go up, I have less money, therefore I spend less, therefore the places I usually spend money at don’t get as much money. Do you see how this has a trickle-down effect?

New York is the number one moved-out-of-state in the last eight years due to increase in taxes, and our revenue is going down. But wait, I thought tax increases were supposed to increase revenue? Ronald Reagan created jobs in 1983-1984 by lowering taxes. How long will it take until people start to realize that taxing people is not how you increase revenue. Soon we will be taxed for carbon emissions due to global warming. How can these people predict what will happen in 10 years, when they can’t even get a five-day forecast correct?

I hope at least that the local Republicans have learned something in this race. We don’t want a liberal/moderate Republican to speak on our behalf. We want fiscal responsibility, lower taxes, gun rights, limited government and stop the bailouts.

We don’t want another Dede Scozzafava trying to represent us. We need a primary to decide who is the best candidate for our district. I’m sick of Washington politicians trying to shove things down our throats, like health care.

And William Owens, it is not a mandate that you won. You couldn’t even get 50 percent of the voting population, so you shouldn’t try to ram things down our throats either. My hat goes off to Doug Hoffman. You were a no-name 30 days ago, you were up against the Republicans and the Democrats, you are not the greatest speaker, and Owens still only won by 4 percentage points. Great job. Conservatives in 2010, taking America back.
