Vaccination clinics for the H1N1 flu will be offered in several Jefferson County schools starting this week, Jefferson County Public Health Service information officer Steven A. Jennings said.

A school clinic was held Friday morning at Faith Fellowship Christian School in Watertown. The clinic went smoothly, and 17 children were vaccinated, said Donna R. Grant, supervising nurse.

All of the school districts in the county have sent vaccination permission slips home with students, but only about one-third of the slips have come back so far.

"We were hoping for more, but parents are a little skeptical. They're not sure they want their children vaccinated," Mrs. Grant said. "They're not looking at it like the seasonal influenza, but that's basically what it is."
