Pair charged in break-in
at Waddington in August
CANTON— Two men face charges in connection with an August burglary at the Waddington village barns.
Corey P. Deshane, 29, of 614 Sissonville Road, Potsdam, and Jeremiah D. Deshane, 25, of 73 W. Main St., Norfolk, were arrested at 2 p.m. Friday.
St. Lawrence County sheriff's deputies charged both men with third-degree burglary, fourth-degree grand larceny and third-degree criminal mischief.
Deputies said the two broke an overhead door and stole several old water meters and copper and other materials, which they sold at scrap metal dealers.
The two were taken to Canton Town Court. Jeremiah Deshane was sent to St. Lawrence County jail on $5,000 bail, while Corey Deshane was sent to jail with no bail.
Norfolk man is arrested
on counts of sexual abuse
MASSENA — Stephen E. Lacomb, 36, Norfolk, was arrested at 12:53 p.m. Friday at the Massena state police barracks and charged with sex abuse, forcible compulsion and endangering the welfare of a child.
The incident was reported about 5 p.m. Monday and allegedly involved two underage children, but police did not release further details. The investigation is ongoing.
Ex-inmate at Ogdensburg
arrested on fugitive count
OGDENSBURG — Matthew C. Jones, 32, Manhattan, was arrested at 8:30 a.m. Friday after being released from Ogdensburg Correctional Facility.
St. Lawrence County sheriff's deputies arrested Mr. Jones as a fugitive from justice on a Florida warrant for allegedly violating the conditions of probation from a charge of aggravated assault with intent to commit felony.
Mr. Jones was taken to Lisbon Town Court and sent to St. Lawrence jail, Canton, without bail to await an extradition hearing in St. Lawrence County Court.
Teen accused of impeding
search for missing girl, 16
CANTON — Kyle A. Bessy, 18, of 479A Howardville Road, was charged about 9:30 p.m. Friday with second-degree obstructing government administration and making a punishable false written statement, village police said.
According to police, Mr. Bessy gave a false written statement and knowingly withheld information from police in an investigation to find a missing 16-year-old girl. The girl was found Nov. 1, police said.
He was released to appear in Village Court.
Massena woman cited
with theft of jewelry
MASSENA — State police charged Amanda L. Walker, 19, Massena, with petit larceny and fourth-degree grand larceny at 8:16 a.m. Friday for allegedly stealing jewelry from homes where she worked.
Mrs. Walker was a home health care professional for the elderly and was found to have stolen more than $1,000 worth of jewels from a Norfolk home, and less than $1,000 worth from a Massena home, police said.
She was issued appearance tickets for Massena Village Court and Norfolk Town Court.
Deputies seeking info
in theft of traps, baskets
CANTON — The St. Lawrence County Sheriff's Department is investigating the theft of about 90 conibear traps and park baskets within the past month.
The items were owned by Wilbur VanSchaick, 350 Irish Settlement Road, Canton, and were taken from around the property.
Deputies ask anyone with information to call 379-2222.
Man charged with having
3.1 pounds of marijuana
MADRID — An Ilion man is accused of possessing 3.1 pounds of marijuana when stopped Wednesday on Route 310.
Steven M. Johnson, 38, was charged with second-degree criminal possession of marijuana, state police said. He was arraigned in Town Court and sent to St. Lawrence County jail, Canton, on $25,000 bail or $50,000 bond.

of her sister to buy beer
POTSDAM — A Manorville teen is accused of using her sister's driver's license Thursday to buy beer.
Stephanie L. Codd, 18, was charged with second-degree criminal impersonation and being a person under age 21 attempting to buy alcohol through fraudulent means, village police said. She was issued appearance tickets for Dec. 2 in Village Court.

MALONE — A 44-year-old man is accused of falsely reporting a child-abuse incident last month to Child Protective Services of Franklin County.
Jeffery A. Hellijas, Malone, was charged Thursday with third-degree falsely reporting an incident, state police said. He was issued an appearance ticket for Town Court.
Man accused of pushing
woman, hitting man
A Watertown man was arrested at 3:20 p.m. Friday for allegedly punching a man in the face, pushing a woman into a wall and breaking a window at his residence.
Watertown police charged Joel A. Pilon, 42, of 644 Emerson St., with fourth-degree criminal mischief and two counts of second-degree harassment on a complaint filed by Darlene R. Town.
According to police, Mr. Pilon allegedly pushed Ms. Town into a wall, forcing her to fall on the floor, and gave Patrick M. Town a fat lip by punching him in the face Thursday at his residence on Emerson Street. He also broke the front-door window by throwing a rock at it, police said.
Mr. Pilon was held pending arraignment in Watertown Town Court.

A man who allegedly slapped and choked a woman and pushed her head into a door window was arrested early Friday on three charges.
Robert A. Creel, 26, of 334 Franklin St., Apt. 3, faces prosecution in City Court on charges of second-degree reckless endangerment, fourth-degree criminal mischief and harassment. He was released without bail by Watertown City Judge James C. Harberson.
Police said Kelly A. Jenness, same address, also was thrown to the floor and restrained there during their domestic fight about 2:20 a.m. Friday. Mr. Creel also is accused of throwing her cell phone to the floor, smashing it, police said.
Police say Herrings man
made threats over phone
HERRINGS — A Herrings man who allegedly threatened during a phone conversation to kill a woman was arrested Friday night on two charges.
Ryan J. Childers, 26, of 24509 First St., was arrested by Watertown city police about 9:40 p.m. Friday on the 700 block of Waterman Drive, Watertown, and charged with a second-degree aggravated harassment and felony criminal contempt on a complaint filed by Tina M. Delaney.
According to police, he threatened over the phone on Monday to kill Ms. Delaney. He was held pending arraignment in Watertown Town Court.

GLENFIELD — Michael C. Hoskins, 50, of 6624 Otter Creek Road, was cited with harassment Wednesday by state police, and is ordered to appear in town of Leyden Court.
During an encounter Sunday afternoon in the parking lot at Lock 96 convenience store, Port Leyden, he threatened to kill Alex Hoffert, 24, Lyons Falls, troopers alleged.
Bombay woman accused
of break-in at Stockholm
STOCKHOLM — Melissa A. Cole, 38, Bombay, was charged Wednesday with second-degree burglary after allegedly breaking into a Route 420 home Oct. 15, state police said.
She was arraigned in Massena Town Court and sent to St. Lawrence County jail, Canton, on $10,000 bail or $20,000 bond. The St. Regis Mohawk Tribal Police assisted in the investigation.
Police: woman stole $860
by using man's debit card
MARTINSBURG — Caroline M. Ortlieb, 50, of 6289 Water St., faces prosecution in Lowville Village Court on charges of second-degree identity theft and petit larceny, lodged Wednesday by state police.
She is accused of using a debit card belonging to John Hammond, Lowville, in October to make ATM withdrawals totaling $860, police said.
Watertown woman faces
charge of trespassing
Charlene P. Johnson, 47, of 123 Stuart St., is summoned to City Court to answer a charge of third-degree criminal trespass.
Watertown police allege that on the evening of Oct. 29, she used the rear door to enter, without permission, the apartment of Tina M. Smith and April M. Williams at 725 Davidson St.
