LAFARGEVILLE — Mr. John M. "Sparky" Scales age 62 of County Rte 13 died Thursday at the Samaritan Medical Center where he was a patient for a day. Mr. Scales had been in ill health. Calling hours will be 3:00 to 6:00 pm Sunday at the T.R. Jetty Funeral Home in Clayton. The Funeral will be Monday at 11:00 am at the Funeral Home with Pastor James Hayes of the Christian Life Center officiating. Following cremation burial will be in St. Lawrence Union Cemetery in the Town of Cape Vincent.

Sparky was born March 4th, 1947 in Watertown the son of George and Winifred Sulier Scales. He attended area schools. He worked at the former Frink America "Frinks Snow Plow" in Clayton for over 28 years until it's closing. He then went to work at Norman Jenson Brokers for 2 years, then St. Mary's Catholic Church and Cemetery for four years.

He enjoyed hunting deer and turkey's. He was a member of the North Side Improvement League in Watertown.

Surviving besides his mother Winifred of Cape Vincent is one son John Beck of Watertown, five daughters Stephanie [Randy] Daniels of Watertown, Jami Schuerfeld and her companion Rick Keech of Glen Park, Rebecca [Robin] Brant of Canada, Jennifer [James] Bumberey of Quantico VA. and Tina Knight of Watertown, one sister Linda [Dick] Kiblin of Woodville, three brothers, George [Linda] of Depauville, Ricky [Penny] of Cape Vincent and Ray of Clayton, nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. One sister Dora Bissonette died before him.
