Legislators plan to discuss five departments' budgets

CANTON — The St. Lawrence County Legislature's Operations Committee will not meet today. Legislators instead will meet to review five departments' proposed 2010 budgets.

Legislators will meet at 4 p.m. to discuss budget proposals for the Office for the Aging, Treasurer, Board of Legislators and the Office of Economic Development.

Talks are ongoing concerning the Office of Economic Development's future. Industrial Development Agency officials have proposed taking it over.

Legislators will review the Sheriff's Department budget at 7 p.m.

The Operations Committee will meet at 5 p.m. Nov. 16, in conjunction with the Services Committee. All meetings are held at the County Courthouse.
