LOWVILLE — A dermatology physician assistant will join the staff at Lewis County General Hospital in a few weeks.
Amy L. Werchinski will begin seeing patients here Dec. 1.
"I am excited to bring dermatology services to Lewis County, as there is a great need in the area," Ms. Werchinski said in a release. "Skin cancers are the most common type of cancer and are almost always curable if treated early. I look forward to providing quality dermatologic care locally."
Services for both pediatric and adult patients will include skin examinations, skin cancer screenings, diagnosis and treatment of common dermatologic conditions, minor skin surgeries and skin allergy testing.
Ms. Werchinski will be working in the office of Dr. Daniel Ellison in the Medical Arts Building. Appointments may be made by calling 376-5473.
Ms. Werchinski graduated from South Jefferson Central School, Adams, in 1998 and from the Rochester Institute of Technology in 2002, then completed a master's degree as a dermatology physician assistant through the University of Nebraska Medical Center in 2005.
She is the daughter and stepdaughter of Tina and Jon Schell, Lowville, both of whom work at Lewis County General Hospital, and daughter of the late Jeffrey Werchinski.
