Florence M. Aubel

LOWVILLE — Florence M. Aubel, 92, of River Street, died Tuesday morning at her home.

A Funeral Mass will be said at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 14, 2009 at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Shady Avenue, Lowville, with Rev. Christopher Carrara, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Lowville Rural Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday, November 13, 2009 from 4-8 pm at Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., 5702 Waters Road, Lowville, NY 13367. She is survived by five sons and five daughters-in-law, Rodney F. and Mary Lou Monnat of Sanbornville, New Hampshire, John C. Aubel of Lowville, NY, Neal D. and Linda Aubel of Lowville, NY, Gary S. and Sharon Aubel of Forestport, NY; Kevin T. and Helene Aubel of N. Syracuse, NY; two daughters, Linda F. Aubel-Edick of Chicago, Illinois, Cheryl E. Myron of Lowville, NY, a daughter-in-law, Shirley Aubel of Mt. Vernon, Kentucky; 18 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; She is predeceased by a son Lynn P. Aubel, six brothers, Harrison, Maynard, Philip, Sherman, Francis, John and four sisters Grace Fitzgerald, Genevieve Lyndaker, Margaret Monnat and Mary Pate.

Mrs. Aubel was born on February 16, 1917 in the Town of Croghan, NY, a daughter of the late Frank and Melvina Compo Monnat, and graduated from Father Leo Memorial School in 1934. She did domestic work for Croghan area families before her marriage to Lynas Aubel on January 18, 1941 at St. Stephen's Catholic Church in Croghan. Mr. Aubel died in December, 1985. She worked at Lewis County General Hospital as a nurse's aide and retired on January 18, 1982 as a Ward Clerk. Mrs. Aubel was a former member of Beaver River Senior Citizens and the Lowville Senior Citizens. She enjoyed playing cards, crossword puzzles, reading, bus trips and knitting.
