Police accuse sex offender

of providing false address

EDWARDS — A high-risk sex offender is accused of providing a false address.

Lyndon J. Lockwood, 20, was charged Nov. 6 with first-degree offering a false instrument for filing, St. Lawrence County sheriff's deputies said. He reportedly provided authorities with a Trout Lake Street address in Edwards without the homeowner's permission.

He was arraigned in Canton Town Court and sent to St. Lawrence County jail, Canton.

Mr. Lockwood was convicted in March on a charge of second-degree sexual abuse involving a 13-year-old girl. He was classified a Level 3 sex offender.

Man facing drug charges

after rear-end collision

NORFOLK — An Ithaca man whose vehicle rear-ended another car Tuesday on Route 56 in Raymondville faces drug charges.

Martin L. Nemeth, 25, was charged with two counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and single counts of unlawful possession of marijuana, following too closely and controlled substance not in the original container, state police said. No injuries were reported.

He was arraigned in Town Court and sent to St. Lawrence County jail, Canton, on $10,000 bail or $15,000 bond.

Blaze destroys barn,

equipment in Pinckney

BARNES CORNERS — A town of Pinckney barn being used for storage was destroyed by fire Wednesday night.

Copenhagen firefighters at 7:45 p.m. were called to the Charles Williams residence at 665 Cronk Road and requested mutual aid from Lowville, Rodman and Tylerville fire departments.

The barn and its contents, including some equipment and other odds and ends, were listed as a total loss, according to Lewis County Fire Coordinator James M. Martin.

There was no insurance on the structure. The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.

Watertown man charged

with weapon possession

A Watertown man faces a charge that he intended to use a knife against another man.

Joshua D. Metzler, 23, of 717 State St., Apt. 1, was charged by city police about 3 a.m. Wednesday with third-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

It is alleged he had a knife with the intention of using it against Chad R. Backus, 23610 Fernwood Drive, Black River, at a residence in the 800 block of Burchard Street. Police said it was illegal for him to have the knife because he had been convicted of petit larceny Dec. 22 in City Court. He is to answer the weapon possession charge in the same court.

Man facing three charges

after a domestic dispute

CANTON — A Rensselaer Falls man is accused of pushing his wife off a porch and threatening her in front of their children.

Richard L. Schwartfigure, 38, of 211 King St., was charged Tuesday with criminal mischief, child endangerment and harassment, St. Lawrence County sheriff's deputies said. He also allegedly disconnected the telephone while his wife tried calling emergency dispatchers.

He was arraigned in Town Court and released under probation supervision. A protection order was issued for his wife.

Police charge Canton man

with threatening his wife

CANTON — State police charged Patrick F. Whitehill, 20, Canton, with first-degree criminal contempt Tuesday, saying he violated a protection order by threatening his estranged wife, Gina Whitehill. He was arraigned in Lisbon Town Court and sent to St. Lawrence County jail, Canton, on $700 bail or $1,400 bond.

Mr. Whitehill was charged last month with second-degree criminal contempt when he allegedly threatened Mrs. Whitehill over the phone, troopers said.

Deputies probing theft

of $3,200 cash from car

RUSSELL — St. Lawrence County sheriff's detectives are investigating the theft of $3,200 in cash taken from an unlocked car Sunday night at a County Route 24 home.

The suspect stole the money, consisting of $100 and $50 bills, from a wallet left inside the car, detectives said.

A reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible. Anyone with information can call sheriff's detectives at 379-2222.

Two teens face charges

of shoplifting at Walmart

POTSDAM — Two teens were accused Tuesday of stealing items from Walmart on Route 11.

Shawna A. Bender, 18, Chase Mills, and Vanessa M. Hanna, 19, Potsdam, were both charged with petit larceny, state police said. Both were issued appearance tickets for Town Court.

Massena resident accused

of stealing woman's cash

CANTON — Village police charged Shawn L. Beauvais, 35, of 36 Spruce St., Massena, with petit larceny Monday for allegedly stealing about $130 in cash from a woman's wallet that was left in a Stewart's Shop bathroom on Gouverneur Street.

He was issued appearance tickets for Village Court.

State police say man sold

two cows that weren't his

MACOMB — State police charged Kenny W. Roberts, 20, Richville, with misapplication of property Tuesday for allegedly selling two cows that didn't belong to him.

The investigation is continuing. No further information was available.

Shoplifting count lodged

OGDENSBURG — State police charged Ralph E. Lawton, 82, of 930 Ford St., with petit larceny Monday for reportedly stealing an ice scraper Nov. 1 from the Family Dollar store. He was issued an appearance ticket for Oswegatchie Town Court.

Deputies probe burglaries

at camps in three towns

LOWVILLE — The Lewis County Sheriff's Department is investigating several recent camp burglaries in the towns of Martinsburg, Pinckney and Montague.

Area camp owners are asked to check their properties, and anyone with information is asked to call the Sheriff's Office at 376-3511. All information will be kept confidential.

Man accused of punching

woman, breaking window

Stanley P. Weir Jr., 49, of 530 Mill St., was jailed Tuesday after being charged by city police with fourth-degree criminal mischief and attempted third-degree assault.

He was being held in the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building, with bail set at $500 by Watertown City Judge James C. Harberson.

Police said he is accused of punching Bonnie J. Martin, same address, in the face during a domestic fight shortly after 8 p.m. Monday, and also of damaging a door window in the residence during the fight.

Man charged with leaving

child alone in apartment

A 4-year-old girl, having been left home alone while taking a bath Monday night, walked unclothed out of an apartment at 125 State Place to look for her father, according to Watertown police.

The parent, Jason R. Godwin, 29, was located about 15 minutes after a stranger attended to the child, police said. He faces prosecution in City Court on a charge of endangering the welfare of a child.

Police said Mr. Godwin left the child alone about 8 p.m. to show an apartment to a prospective new tenant.

Two from Lowville cited

with disorderly conduct

LOWVILLE — Village police overnight Sunday charged two people with disorderly conduct in separate incidents.

At 10:49 p.m. Sunday, police charged Glenn D. Caplicki, 24, of 7527 S. State St., for allegedly refusing to stop yelling obscenities off South State Street after being so ordered.

At 1:59 a.m. Monday, police charged Eric D. Brockhum, 18, of 7584 S. State St., for allegedly squealing his tires and blowing his horn after being advised to go home. He additionally was charged with some unspecified traffic offenses, police said.

Both are to appear in Village Court.

Police say man punched

woman, broke cheekbone

A Watertown man faces a charge that he punched a female in the face, breaking her cheekbone.

Savino J. Trevizo, 41, of 145 Winslow St., Apt. 1, was charged by city police about 6:15 a.m. Thursday with third-degree assault. It is alleged he punched Alisha M. Kiblin, 150 Clinton St., Apt. 5, on the right side of her face, causing the fracture, on Oct. 30.

He is to answer the charge in City Court.

Man accused of pointing

shotgun, making threat

ADAMS CENTER — An Adams Center man faces a charge that he threatened another man with a shotgun.

Brandon M. Ladue, 21, of 18124 Route 177, Apt. 4, was charged by Jefferson County sheriff's deputies Wednesday with second-degree menacing. It is alleged that on Oct. 27 at his residence he pointed a shotgun at Joshua Graves and said, "It's loaded."

He is to answer the charge in Adams Town Court.

Redwood man charged

with possessing drug

Lyle R. Robinson, 22, of 34140 Hanson Bridge Road, Redwood, was charged by Watertown police Wednesday with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Police said that on Oct. 18 at a State Street residence he had a yellow substance in his pocket that later tested positive as benzylpiperazine, an illegal stimulant.

He is to answer the charge in City Court.

Man accused of slapping

his girlfriend in the face

A Watertown man faces a charge that he slapped his girlfriend in the face.

Henry R. Carter Jr., 26, of 806 Burchard St., Apt. 6, was charged by city police at about 2:10 a.m. Wednesday with second-degree harassment.

It is alleged that he slapped Hanna R. Rogers, same address, in the right side of the face in the 200 block of Arsenal Street. He is to answer the charge in City Court.
