MASSENA — Miss Julia H. Kormanyos, 88, of 13 Somerset Ave., Massena, died peacefully in her sleep Friday (Nov. 13, 2009).
A funeral mass will be Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Church with Rev. J. Michael Gaffney, celebrant of the mass. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Friends may call Sunday 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the Donaldson Funeral Home.
Julia is survived by one brother, John Kormanyos, Massena; two sisters, Margaret and Andor J. Bocskor, Waddington, and Helen and William Dart Jr., Decatur, Texas; one sister-in-law, Dolores Kormanyos, Massena; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by one sister and three brothers - Elizabeth B. Dupray on April 29, 1994, Steve P. Kormanyos on Sept. 11, 1976, Joseph H. Kormanyos on May 18, 2003 and George A. Kormanyos on Sept. 13, 2009.
She was born Jan. 14, 1921 in Massena, the daughter of the late Laszlo and Barbara (Gabri) Kormanyos. She graduated from Massena High School in 1939.
Julia worked in the planning and shipping department at Alcoa starting in 1941 until her retirement in 1981. She was taken out of Alcoa from 1944-1945 to work at the Naval Department in Washington, D.C.
Julia was a member of St. Mary's Church, Sacred Heart League and the 25 Year Club at Alcoa.
She enjoyed reading, shopping and her many nieces and nephews.
