Women's hockey squads struggle

ITHACA — Kendice Ogilvie and Catherine White scored third-period goals to give Cornell a 2-0 ECAC women's hockey win over previously undefeated Clarkson on Friday.

Ogilvie scored the game-winner at 4 minutes of the third, and White notched the insurance goal at 14:28 for Cornell (5-2-0 overall, 5-0 league).

Clarkson dropped to 11-2-1, 5-1.

ST. LAWRENCE 2, COLGATE 2

Britni Smith scored with just two seconds to play for the Saints in an ECAC tie with the Red Raiders in Hamilton.

Michelle Zimmerman also scored for St. Lawrence (4-4-4, 2-3-1).

Marissa Dombovy and Brittany Phillips scored for Colgate (2-7-2, 1-2-2).

SACRED HEART 5, SUNY POTSDAM 2

The Pioneers opened with three consecutive goals and hung on to beat the Bears in a nonconference game in Potsdam.

Brittany Hartman, Caitlin Gottwald, Taryn Palierre Lauren Fontaine and Lauren Towers all scored for Sacred Heart (1-5-0).

Amanda King and Stephanie Simons scored for SUNY Potsdam (2-2-0).

MEN'S HOCKEY

SUNY MORRISVILLE 5,

SUNY POTSDAM 3

Bobby Cass and Geoff Matzel scored back-to-back goals in the third period to give the Mustangs a SUNYAC win over the Bears in Morrisville.

Cass' final score was his second of the game for Morrisville (3-2-0, 2-1). Spencer Noyes, Fraser Smith and Connor Treacy scored for SUNY Potsdam (2-3).

WOMEN'S SOCCER

SUNY CANTON 3,

MAINE-PRESQUE ISLE 0

Kirsten Morley scored two goals to lead the Kangaroos (10-8 overall) past Maine-Presque Isle in a Sunrise Conference semifinal game in Scarborough, Maine.

SUNY Canton will play host Maine-Fort Kent at 1 p.m. today in the championship game.

Angie Waryasz also scored for SUNY Canton. Aubrey Parrish made four saves.

MEN'S SOCCER

MAINE-MACHIAS 4, SUNY CANTON 1

Anthony Martiniano assisted twice to lead Maine-Machias (10-5-2) past the Kangaroos in a Sunrise Conference semifinal game in Scarborough, Maine.

Pat Corliss, Greg Dawson, Devon Whitbeck and Pablo Salas scored for Maine-Machias. Moubarak Agoro scored for the Kangaroos (10-6-2).

MEN'S BASKETBALL

ROBERTS WESLEYAN 88,

SUNY CANTON 42

Dan Foley scored 17 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead host Roberts Wesleyan past SUNYCanton in the season opener.

Tony Valentin scored 14 points, while Tony Parker and Deric Alston each contributed 10 points for the Kangaroos.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

ROBERTS WESLEYAN 82,

SUNY CANTON 47

Morgan Skiff scored 20 points to lead Robert Wesleyan past SUNY Canton in the season opener for each team. Sarah Child and Melissa Bunce added 11 points for Roberts Wesleyan.

Abby Shoen recorded 11 points and 14 rebounds for the Kangaroos. Shannon LaFave scored 14 points and Julie Vander Wiel added 10.
