NORFOLK — An old school in town is one step closer to becoming an apartment complex and storage units.

The St. Lawrence County Planning Board last week approved a use variance for Donald J. Colbert Jr. to convert the old school into 14 apartments, nine self storage units and space for his business, Cornerstone Services, a heating and air conditioning company currently located in Norwood, according to Jason C. Pfotenhauer, deputy director of the planning office.

Mr. Colbert now needs to go to the town board for final approval for his plans for the former school, located at Clinton and Hepburn streets. No date for that meeting was available.
