William J. Sanford, 79, of Port St. John, Fl., formally of Nashua, died on November 10th at the Wuestoff Hospital in Rockledge, Fl.

He was born in Syracuse, NY on November 20th, 1929. He served in the U.S. Navy for 20 years, during which time he traveled extensively with his family. After retiring from the Navy, he worked at several local companies, including Sanders, before acquiring and operating a company in Massachusetts. He was an avid sailor, enjoyed cooking and was a member of the Methodist Church.

Predeceased by Joyce, his wife of 48 years, he is survived by sisters Carole Randall and Anita Schradel, 5 daughters: Brooke Foran, Sandy Machell, Patti Schwendeman, Liz Crittenden and Susan Tobin; his sons-in-law: Dave Foran, John Machell, Dan Schwendeman, Jim Crittenden; grandchildren: Ken and Georgia Cadrain, Cameron and Colton Machell, Kelly Schwendeman, Bradley and Sanford Crittenden, James and Miles Tobin and several nieces and nephews. Also by his dear friend, Pat Adams, whose love and caring made all the difference during his illness.

Davis-Seawinds funeral home in Melbourne, Florida is entrusted with arrangements. There will be no calling hours. The funeral will be held in Nashua at the Main Street Methodist Church on Friday, November 20th at 10:00 a.m., followed by a graveside service at Woodlawn Cemetary.
