3 establishments fined for violating state health codes

The state Department of Health reported the following fines and violations in October in Jefferson County:

■ Taitt's Tasties, 27 Market St., Alexandria Bay, paid $350 in fines, including three $100 fines for cooling cooked hamburger improperly, having desserts in a refrigerator case warmer than the recommended temperature and having an ineffective refrigerated dessert case. The business also paid a $50 fine for not properly reheating rice.

■ American Legion Post 588, 101 Washington St., Brownville, paid a $1,000 fine for allowing two patrons to smoke in the building. Also found were eight ashtrays on the bar and one behind the counter by the cash register. This is a repeat violation.

■ Harbor Inn LLC, 625 Mary St., Clayton, paid $200 in fines, $100 each for having numerous foods stored at unsafe temperatures and for having an ineffective walk-in cooler and sandwich preparation unit. The business agreed to repair or replace the sandwich preparation unit and walk-in cooler on or before Oct. 15.
