SACKETS HARBOR — The village historical society will offer a free presentation on colonial New York Dutch shipbuilding at 7 p.m. Friday at its office at Broad and Main streets.

Schenectady County and City Historian Don Rittner will give the presentation on "Building the New Netherlands' First Ship: The Onrust Project." The talk will tell the story of a 2006 project by volunteers in Schenectady County to build a replica of the Onrust, the first Dutch ship built in America, in 1614. The replica was built using 17th-century Dutch building techniques and launched in May 2009.
