Jefferson County Public Health Service has started to offer H1N1 influenza vaccination clinics at schools throughout Jefferson County.

The school-based clinics began Nov. 6 at Faith Fellowship, Watertown.

They continued last week at Alexandria Central, Alexandria Bay, Guardino Elementary, Clayton, Thousand Islands Middle/Senior High School, Clayton, and Cape Vincent Elementary.

Clinics will continue as follows:

■ Today at LaFargeville Central and Starbuck Elementary, Watertown.

■ Wednesday at Sackets Harbor Central and Lyme Central, Chaumont.

■ Thursday at Brownville-Glen Park Elementary in Brownville, and Dexter Elementary.

■ Friday at General Brown Junior/Senior High School, Dexter.

■ Monday at Ohio Street School and Immaculate Heart Central intermediate school, both in Watertown.

■ Nov. 24 at Immaculate Heart Central high school and primary school, both Watertown.

■ Nov. 30 at Watertown High School and Wiley Intermediate, Watertown.

Remaining Jefferson County schools will be scheduled in December and possibly into January.

"We want to get all of the schools done to reach that priority population, and then go out into the community," said Faith E. Lustik, Jefferson County Public Health Service public information officer.

As of Monday, only 1,000 of the 3,500 H1N1 mist vaccine doses ordered have arrived, while 3,400 of the 8,000 injectable H1N1 vaccine doses ordered have been received.
