Parents have to put limits on their children

I agree with David Simmons on about 87 percent of his letter "WHS on list for reasons beyond its control." I have three sons in WHS, two in the middle school and one overseas in the military. I'm a retired veteran. Education is the upmost responsibility of the parent and the school.

He is right about the games children have, i.e., Wii, My Space, etc.; my kids have those, too. But, as parents we did that and have to put limits on their use.

I think where I disagree with him is in the paragraph that teachers must be exciting and creative teachers. To some extent I agree, but as an instructor you must make sure that it's not a game, it's your future.

There are many programs I see at WHS. The one I don't see is JROTC. This is a very productive course in life and direction for a high school student; going in the military is irrelevant. I recommend for parents in Watertown to see what your children are doing, monitor their behavior at school and their homework that needs to be done.

Don't put disciplining on the teachers. Their job is to teach and develop young men and women to be future leaders in our country.
