LOWVILLE — A Lowville teen was jailed Tuesday on numerous charges after being picked up on a bench warrant from Lewis County Court.
Lewis County sheriff's deputies said they, with the assistance of village police, arrested Joshua J. Young, 19, of 7561 S. State St., on a County Court warrant charging him with second-degree burglary and fourth-degree grand larceny.
During the arrest, Mr. Young allegedly was found in possession of a hypodermic needle and two rifles stolen from a camp in the town of Croghan. He subsequently was charged with criminal possession of a hypodermic instrument and criminal possession of stolen property.
Deputies in a release said Mr. Young also had charges pending for second-degree assault and fifth-degree conspiracy in the town of Lowville but did not provide further details.
Mr. Young was arraigned in Lewis County Court on the warrant and committed to Lewis County jail without bail, then later arraigned in Village Court on the remaining charges and sent back to jail on $50,000 bail.
Mr. Young in June was allowed to enter the county's Drug Court program after pleading guilty to two counts of third-degree burglary and a single count of fourth-degree grand larceny. He had been charged with breaking into numerous camps, mostly in May or June 2008, in the town of Montague, and Lowville Sport and Farm in the town of Martinsburg on March 23.
