Dorris A. Powers, 60, of 22418 Riverbend Dr. E., Watertown, died Nov. 16, 2009 at her home where she was under the care of her family and Hospice of Jefferson County.
A funeral mass will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, Nov. 20th at Holy Family Church with Rev. Steven Murray, Pastor officiating. A prayer service will be Friday at 12:30 p.m. at the Hart & Bruce Funeral Home.
Calling hours will be Thursday, Nov. 19th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will be in the St. Stephen's Cemetery in Croghan.
Born December 3, 1948, in Lowville, NY, daughter of James and Martha Bockenheim Campany, she graduated in 1966 from Beaver River Central. She graduated from Auburn Community College in 1968 and the University of Buffalo in 1970, with a degree in Occupational Therapy.
She worked as an Occupational Therapist at Mercy Hospital, Jefferson ARC, Jeff-Lewis BOCES, Samaritan Medical Center, and was currently with BOCES at North Elementary School in Watertown.
She married John L. Powers on July 10, 1971 at St. Stephen's Catholic Church in Croghan. The couple then resided in Watertown. Mr. Powers retired from Climax Manufacturing Co., as a sales analyst.
Mrs. Powers was a member of the Citizens United for Removal of Barriers, a leader for Brownies and Girl Scouts for several years and a communicant of Holy Family Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family, the outdoors, skiing, hiking, music and her pets.
Surviving besides her husband, are two daughters and a son-in-law, Kimberly S. and Thomas W. McKeown, Schenectady, Abbie M. Powers, Saratoga Springs; two grandsons, Thomas J. and William H. McKeown; her mother, Martha Campany, Beaver Falls; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Joseph Campany, Beaver Falls, Rodney and Carolyn Campany, NC, Lynn and Gail Campany, Lake Bonaparte; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Eleanor and Bernard Bush, Croghan, Karen and Gary Wrayno, NC, Linda Campany, NC; several nieces and nephews.
