Sales tax revenue for the city of Watertown has fallen short of projections for three of the four months in the 2009-10 fiscal year, according to estimates provided by City Manager Mary M. Corriveau.

At roughly $14.6 million per year, sales tax is the city's single largest source of income. For October, the city expects to receive $1,081,394, which is $43,857 or 4 percent short, of the $1,125,251 budgeted for the month. Since July, the beginning of the fiscal year, the city is 4.3 percent, or $227,454, short of the $5,280,688 projected through October.

Sales tax revenue is also down 2.4 percent, or $124,286, compared to this point last year.
