Rape case to be presented to grand jury

CANTON — The case of a SUNY Canton student accused a having sexual intercourse with a 13-year-old girl is expected to be presented to a St. Lawrence County grand jury after the Brooklyn man waived his right for a preliminary hearing Thursday in Village Court.

Jean-Martin Ady, 23, of 1677 St. Johns Place, with a SUNY Canton address of Smith Hall East 107, has been charged with second-degree rape, third-degree rape and unlawfully dealing with a child.

Ady is represented by attorney Steven G. Ballan of the St. Lawrence County Public Defender's Office. Ady remains in St. Lawrence County jail on $5,000 bail.

Ady is accused of having sexual relations with the teenager early Saturday morning in a dorm room on the SUNY Canton campus.
