NORFOLK — The town board voted Wednesday night to cede 38 and 381/2 W. Main St. to the Norfolk Volunteer Fire Department. The property, which consists of a vacant lot at West Main and Furnace streets and an abandoned white house, was seized by St. Lawrence County for taxes and given to the town last month.

The Fire Department plans to clear the land to make a bigger parking lot.

"It looks like a pretty big lot but if a truck needs to get out, it needs the whole lot to swing around," said Councilman Kevin D. Enslow. "That's why they wanted the extra space."
