The 23rd District now has a Democratic congressman who will vote for nationalized health insurance, cap-and-trade, gun control, higher taxes, amnesty for illegal immigrants and card check. Way to go, voters.

How did this happen? The Republican Party held four candidate forums to pick a candidate for this special election. There were nine folks interested in running, including Doug Hoffman. However, the Republican Party chairs from the 11 counties chose Dierdre Scozzafava because it was her turn. They went with the only politician in the group. They could not look outside the box.

It is hard to believe, but these chairmen never even asked what her views were on national issues. They did not know she supported card check, the destruction of the secret ballot in union elections, until after the selection. The other eight men never had an honest chance. I told them at the last forum to take the top three choices and grill them on all issues for as long as it took. I was ignored.

However, we now have a chance to rectify that incredible error by selecting a true Republican for next year's election and to make sure Bill Owens' tenure is very short. Once the voters in the 23rd realize that Owens is a Nancy Pelosi hack and what that means for our country and Constitution, the Republicans should be able to regain the seat, hopefully before permanent damage is done.

But then again, maybe not. So many people have their hands out or depend on government cash for jobs and survival; the tipping point may have been reached. The providers are now outnumbered by the takers. We may end up with a true revolution with blood in the streets and a breakup of states.

Dede is finished with the Republican Party. We never even considered that she would betray all those who had supported her. She should have fought the battle to the end like a true warrior, but she just couldn't take it. Hoffman was not a good candidate, but he represented a rebellion against the old order. I hope the party bosses were listening and the GOP will retake the seat next November. These sure are exciting times.
