RAY BROOK — State police are urging motorists to remember to buckle their seat belts on long drives during the holiday season. Michael J. Girard, acting commander of Troop B, said in a statement Wednesday that state police will be cracking down on people who aren't wearing seat belts next week.

Troopers across the state will be conducting checkpoints and will be on roving patrol to check that drivers and passengers are wearing safety restraints during the Thanksgiving holiday.

"Thanksgiving travel can be dangerous, and seat belts are the best defense against crash-related injuries and fatalities," Mr. Girard said in a statement.
