Few outsiders know much about life inside North Korea. But a U.N. General Assembly human rights committee has heard enough about violations there to approve a resolution critical of the communist nation 97-19. A full vote on the North's human rights violations by the 192-member world body is expected soon.

Concerns were expressed for North Korea's public executions, arbitrary detention, punishment of refugees and asylum seekers, and restrictions on many freedoms.
