SANDY CREEK — Roberta Holmes Farrington, 83, passed away Friday, Nov. 20, 2009, at age 83 at Rochester General Hospital after a two week illness.
Survived by two daughters and a son, Chris A. Farrington of Newfane, NY, Mrs. John (Cindy) Graney of Rochester, NY & James (Annette) Farrington of Rochester, NY; 2 grandsons; 1 granddaughter; 2 great-grandchildren and sister Mrs. Joseph (Billy Jo) Sauer of Maple Valley, WA.
Born Aug. 19, 1926 in Syracuse, Mrs. Farrington was the youngest of six daughters of Orin Willard and Margaret Nancy Segovis Holmes. She graduated from Onondaga High School and Syracuse General Hospital School of Nursing in Syracuse. She worked briefly in sales for J.C. Penney and was married on June 12, 1946 in Liverpool, NY to Charles James Farrington who died on Aug. 20, 2008. She was a member of the Eastern Star for more than 40 years and a member of AARP and New York State Retired Teacher's Assn. She was a former member of parent-teacher associations in Oriskany Falls, Tioga Center and Harpursville Central Schools, the Home Bureau, the American Legion and the West Colesville Volunteer Fire Co. Auxiliary before moving permanently to Sandy Creek more than 20 years ago.
A Memorial Service will be held Sat. Nov. 28 at 11 am at Elmgrove United Methodist Church, 1500 Spencerport Road in Gates. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Elmgrove United Methodist Church or a charity of choice.
