GOUVERNEUR — Donna Marie Walrath Niles, 49, passed away Thursday, November 19, 2009.
Donna was born March 1, 1960 in Gouverneur, the daughter of Roy "Junior" and Fern Griffin Walrath.
She graduated from Gouverneur High School and attended Canton ATC.
Donna worked several years for Dr. Nancy Girard. She volunteered for many years at the Kinney Nursing Home, West Side Elementary School, Gouverneur Library, and served on the St. Lawrence County Housing Council. She enjoyed reading, working on her computer, video games, cooking, baking, and was proud of being a polio survivor.
Donna is survived by her companion John "Rodney" Miller; a son, Paul Niles and his fiancé, Amanda Rachel Sierra, of Plant City, FL; a stepdaughter, Tonya and Nurudeen Mohammed, of Bronx; her mother, Fern Walrath, of Gouverneur; a brother, Earl Walrath and his companion, Sarah Durant, of Ogdensburg; two sisters, Vicky Walrath and her companion, Ed Gilbo, of Ogdensburg, and Lisa Burns and her companion, Allen Lando, of Gouverneur; a granddaughter, and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. She is predeceased by her father and a brother, William Merritt.
She was previously married to Mark D. Niles.
Calling hours will be held today, Sunday, November 22 from 1-4 p.m. at the Green Funeral Home, Gouverneur. There will be no funeral service.
