A felony is charged when the motorist has been convicted of DWI within the prior 10 years.
Deputies said Mr. Sturtevant was northbound when his vehicle went off the left side of the road, then skidded back across the road and hit a guardrail a couple of times. He was taken by Lyons Falls ambulance to Lewis County General Hospital, Lowville, for treatment of face and head injuries, and was transferred to Upstate Medical University, Syracuse, for further treatment.
He also was charged with failure to keep right, driving at an unsafe speed, crossing hazard markings and not wearing a seat belt.
