HOGANSBURG — The St. Regis Mohawk tribe voted no to two initiatives in a weekend referendum. The first, which was defeated 178-140, rejected a plan to build an off-reservation casino. The tribe had been considering renewing efforts to build a casino in the Catskills for about a year.

The second, which was defeated 278 -37, turned down a plan to spend $250,000 to buy an empty building to house its human services programs.
