Mr. Timothy J. O'Gorman, 59, of Thompson Road, Perrysburg, Ohio, passed away Sunday, Nov. 22, 2009, in Auburn, under the care of Hospice of the Finger Lakes and surrounded by family and friends.
"Timmy" was a native of Colton, New York, a graduate of Colton-Pierrepont Central School, SUNY Morrisville, and University of Vermont. Since the age of 13 he was an owner, breeder, trainer and exhibitor of registered American Morgan Horses. A passion grew from reading the book "Justin Morgan Had a Horse" by Marguerite Henry several years earlier. Along with his wife Shirley Norman O'Gorman, both of their passions turned into vocations with owning and operating O'Gorman Stables, and have exhibited horses from Maine to California, Illinois to Florida and through out the heartlands of America.
Timothy was an American Horse Show/American Morgan Horse Judge, and was often in center ring at State Fairs, Regional, National and the World Championships Horse Shows. Having been the second American to judge the "Morgans" at the Royal Windsor Horse Show, Windsor Castle, England. While he was recognized as an accomplished Master Horseman, he was also an astute breeder of Giant Schnauzer dogs, that have excelled in their respective divisions.
Surviving are his wife Shirley N. O'Gorman, Perrysburg, Ohio, siblings Leary and wife Ellen O'Gorman, Englewood, Colo., Kathleen O'Gorman Casey and husband Brian, Canton, Michael O'Gorman, Auburn, Jane O'Gorman, Canton, Patrick O'Gorman and wife Karen, Potsdam, nieces and nephews Bridget Casey, Katie McKinley, Colin and Caitlin O'Gorman, Keenan, Sean and Nora O'Gorman. One Aunt Marguerite O'Gorman, Colton, and several cousins. He was pre-deceased by his parents Ann L. and Francis J. O'Gorman.
Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at Farrell's Funeral Service, Inc., 84 South Street, Auburn.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at noon, Wednesday, Nov. 25, in Sacred Heart Church, 90 Melrose Road, Auburn.
Interment will be held on Friday, Nov. 27, 2009, at noon, in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Colton. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sharon Regional Cancer Center, Angel Fund, 2320 Highland Road, Hermitage, PA, 16148, attention: Brenda Barber.
