Butcher bombs away for Patriots

CHAUMONT — Sophomore Ashley Butcher connected for a school-record 10 3-point field goals and finished with 33 points and four steals to help guide the Sackets Harbor girls basketball team to a 61-32 "D" Division season-opening victory over Lyme on Tuesday.

Amber Butcher pitched in with 13 points, nine assists and eight steals, and Amanda Rogers grabbed seven rebounds for the Patriots.

Mariah Wallace led the Indians with 16 points.

THOUSAND ISLANDS 71,

LAFARGEVILLE 32

Bit Hall's 23 points lifted the Vikings past the Red Knights in the first Frontier League game of the year for both teams in LaFargeville.

Amber Dibble connected for 11 points, and Kristin McGraw and Courtney Gould each supplied nine points for Thousand Islands (1-0).

Rachel Klock had nine points to lead LaFargeville (0-1).

COPENHAGEN 59, SOUTH LEWIS 19

Morgan Kiernan dropped in 19 points and pulled down 11 rebounds in the Golden Knights' season-opening crossover victory at Copenhagen.

Taylor Church generated 13 points, Danielle Eisel scored 12, and Sarah Jolliff added 10 points for Copenhagen.

Mackenzie Colwell scored six points to pace the Falcons.

ALEXANDRIA 41, SANDY CREEK 17

Kelsy Hechke struck for 21 points, including five 3-pointers, to help propel the Purple Ghosts to the season-opening crossover win at Sandy Creek.

Selina Sochia provided 10 points and 13 rebounds for Alexandria.

Shannon Garvin supplied seven points to lead the Comets.

LAFARGEVILLE 38

Ryan Hanrahan had 25 points, seven rebounds, six steals and four assists to lift the Vikings to a Frontier League crossover victory over the Red Knights in Clayton.

Trevor Robbins added six points, 10 rebounds, four assists and four steals for Thousand Islands (1-0).

Garett Robbins scored 12 points, and Tyler Mitchell added 10 for LaFargeville (0-1).

THOUSAND ISLANDS 1

Elaine VanDerVeeken supplied seven kills, 10 digs and one block as the Beavers earned a Frontier League "C" Division season-opening victory over the Vikings at Clayton.

Beaver River took the match 25-23, 25-22, 23-25 and 25-20. Cristen Davis distributed 20 assists, while Rebekah Andre and Alexis O'Donnell registered 11 and eight kills, respectively, for the Beavers. Taylor Grunert served 20 points, including nine aces.

For Thousand Islands, Siarra Sherako recorded 20 kills, while Rachel Parker accounted for 15 points, seven aces, 10 assists and nine digs. Nicole Griffin added 14 assists.

SOUTH LEWIS 3,

BELLEVILLE HENDERSON 2

Kathryn Oaks supplied 14 kills and four aces as the Falcons won a "C" Division matchup in Turin.

South Lewis pulled away by 25-19, 25-23, 23-25, 24-26 and 25-11. Liz Guillaume had nine kills and four aces, and Miranda Gokey dished out 24 assists for the Falcons (1-1, 1-0).

Kate Gehrke recorded 17 service points, and Caitlin Grimshaw had 18 kills for Belleville-Henderson (0-1).

WATERTOWN 3, WHITESBORO 2

Zoe Garry served eight aces to lead the Cyclones to a season-opening nonleague victory over Whitesboro.

Watertown won 19-25, 25-19, 17-25, 25-11, 25-22. Amanda White added six aces and 13 kills for the Cyclones.
