WHAT: Twelve Bands of Christmas to benefit local food pantries

WHERE/WHEN: Noon to 8 p.m. Dec. 5 at Watertown Fairgrounds exhibition hall.

COST: 20 canned and/or personal items or $10 per person. More than two dozen boxes have been placed at area businesses so people can drop items off and receive a ticket. Locations include UPS stores at 107 Court St. and 26000 Route 11; Carthage Federal Savings Bank, 146 Arsenal St.; Bolton's Pharmacy, 128 Mill St.; Hannaford Supermarket, 2010 Arsenal St.; the Victims Assistance Center of Jefferson County, 120 Arcade St., State Farm Insurance (Laura Penazek-Whitney, agent), 891 Coffeen St.; and at Bear Creek Inn, 4868 Route 11, Pierrepont Manor.

Co-organizer Betty Richmond said those interested in donating items also can call her at 783-5164 and she will go pick them up.

OF NOTE: Vendors and food and drink will be available at the event. The festival is appropriate for all ages.
