I'm being stonewalled! No, not really, but coach Joe Marsh and company are keeping mum on the injury updates for Jeremiah Cunningham (fractured rib), Kyle Flanagan (shoulder) and George Hughes (hip). Marsh did say last week that all three would be ready to go come Friday for Clarkson.

  • I spoke with Flanagan and Cunningham and they both feel well enough to play. Flanagan said he is nearly 100 percent and has full range of motion on his Grade I separated shoulder.

  • Cunningham will be wearing a protective vest for whenever he returns, be it Clarkson or the following week.

  • I did not speak with Hughes, but he did practice.

  • Jared Keller returned from a concussion last weekend against Maine. He was hit hard once in the game and began to feel headaches again. He said he wants to still play, but it will be a game-time decision.

  • That leaves Sean Coffey. Poor, poor Sean Coffey. Bronchitis and the flu have made the first half the season rough for the freshman. He will in all likelihood not be playing this weekend. He said he lost 15 pounds from the illnesses and his airways are still swollen as they recover. He's getting impatient and hopes to return next semester. If not, red shirting may be a possibility, although he said he doesn't really want to do that.

Marsh also did not specify which of the three goalies will start on Friday. Petizian got the go in the nonleague game earlier this season in a 4-1 loss at Clarkson.

Petizian is also the subject of this week's "Get to Know a Saint" feature. It will be posted here by 11 p.m.

In other news:

Everyone on the team wants to move on and forget about the 10-1 disaster at Maine. All the goalies are ready to move on, as are the coaches.

"The cliche is always that it's a wake up call," Marsh said. "But it's only a wake up call if you answer it. You can't hit the snooze."

The good news is that it wasn't a league game and the Saints didn't gain or lose ground on anyone.

The Saints play Clarkson at home first before traveling to Potsdam to finish the series.

Lastly, the much-anticipate (at least among the coaching staff) debut of 6-foot, 5-inch freshman goalie David Grilk was today. He was not recruited, but picked St. Lawrence. No one has seen him play live. He had knee surgery that kept him off the ice until today's practice. He is a massive human being.
