A Watertown man was sentenced Monday in Jefferson County Court to a year in the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building and 10 years' probation for having sexual intercourse with two underage girls.
Denis F. Melgar,22, address not confirmed, also will have to register with the state as a sexual offender for Sept. 1 guilty pleas to two counts of second-degree rape. His sexual offender level will be determined Jan. 22.
He admitted at the time of his plea that he had sexual intercourse with a girl under the age of 15 in February or March at his Franklin Street apartment and that he had sexual intercourse with a 15-year-old girl in March in the city.

Justin W. Knight,20, Fineview, admitted violating probation and was resentenced to six months in the PSB, with credit for time served. He admitted violating probation by failing to report to the probation department as directed and by failing to pay full restitution while under supervision. Information about why he was under supervision was not available from the court.
Christopher W. Grant,20, Cape Vincent, admitted violating probation and was resentenced to a year in the PSB. He also was ordered to pay $6,300 in restitution in the form of a civil judgment. He was sentenced to five years' probation in March for guilty pleas to third-degree criminal mischief as a result of one incident and third-degree forgery and petit larceny. He admitted violating probation by being charged with criminal use of drug paraphernalia in Wayne County and by failing to abide by rules of a substance abuse rehabilitation program.
Tammy L. Gebo,37, of 136 Palmer St., was sentenced to five days in the PSB and five years' probation for an Oct. 9 guilty plea to felony aggravated driving while intoxicated. She also was fined $2,000. She admitted with her plea that she drove drunk March 25 on Route 37 in the town of Pamelia. She had been involved in a one-vehicle accident at the time.
Robert W. Murphy Jr.,43, Watertown, was sentenced to an unspecified amount of time served at the PSB and five years' probation for May 27 guilty pleas to first- and second-degree criminal contempt. He was accused of twice violating City Court orders of protection held by an unidentified Watertown woman.
Christopher B. Blackhurst II,22, of 606 Lansing St., was sentenced to three years' probation for an Oct. 9 guilty plea to fourth-degree criminal mischief. He admitted breaking a laptop computer belonging to Stephanie M. Young during a June 11 domestic incident.
Zachary S. Cushman,18, of 26219 Military Road, was sentenced to three years' probation for an Oct. 9 guilty plea to second-degree criminal trespass and an admission to a probation violation. He admitted breaking into a garage on Mustard Road in the town of Pamelia in May and, by doing so, violating probation. He was resentenced to a concurrent term of probation for the violation.
Renee L. Stokes,33, Fort Drum, was sentenced to a one-year conditional discharge and ordered to pay $1,696 in restitution for a Sept. 2 guilty plea to welfare fraud. She admitted that she received benefits from the Department of Social Services between August 2008 and January by reporting that a member of her household was living with her when the person was actually living elsewhere.
Michael R. Winkelman,50, Cherry Creek, was sentenced to a one-year conditional discharge for a June 26 guilty plea to fourth-degree attempted grand larceny. Further information was not available from the court.
Kelechi Kwubiri,29, Bronx, pleaded guilty to two counts of fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. He is expected to be sentenced Jan. 22 to two years in state prison. He admitted that he possessed cocaine in November 2008 in Watertown and again in the city in early June.
Thomas Rose,20, Watertown, pleaded guilty to second-degree attempted rape. Sentencing was set for Jan. 15. He admitted that he attempted to engage in sexual intercourse with a 13-year-old girl in February in Watertown.
Adam J. Christensen,36, Seneca Falls, pleaded guilty to felony DWI and fourth-degree criminal mischief. Sentencing was set for Jan. 29. He admitted driving drunk in August 2008 on Walton Street in Alexandria Bay and that he kicked out a window of a village patrol car following his arrest.
Elizabeth J. Majo,26, of 1708 Ohio St., Apt. 71, pleaded guilty to felony DWI. Sentencing was set for Jan. 29. She admitted driving drunk Sept. 24 on North Indiana Avenue after having been convicted of misdemeanor DWI on Sept. 22, 2008, in City Court.
Jamie M. Hobbs,38, Syracuse, pleaded guilty to fourth-degree criminal mischief. Sentencing was set for Jan. 29. He pleaded guilty using an Alford plea, meaning he did not admit to the crime, but was pleading guilty to avoid a possible stiffer sentence if convicted at trial. He was accused of causing damage to an ignition switch and rear window of a vehicle July 1 in the town of Ellisburg.
