Drum soldier, 19, found dead in his barracks room

FORT DRUM — A soldier assigned to Fort Drum's 1st Brigade Combat Team was found dead in his barracks room Nov. 25.

Pfc. Tam T. Nguyen, 19, a native of San Jose, Calif., served as an infantryman with the 1st Battalion, 87th Infantry Regiment.

Pfc. Nguyen joined the Army in August 2008 and arrived at Fort Drum in April.

He is survived by his mother and father.

His awards and decorations include the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon and Parachutist Badge.

The cause of death is under investigation.
