FINAL

Clarkson 3, St. Lawrence 3

OVERTIME

Penalty killed

Clarkson penalty

The game-tying goal by Corey Tamblyn was a power play, making Clarkson 3-for-6 on power plays this game.

Third period notes

Clarkson goal Corey Tamblyn

Clarkson pulled goalie... six on four...

Penalty Bollig - Clarkson power play the rest of the way.

Penalty killed 90 seconds to play

Penalty Clarkson - Matt Beca

Power play GOAL Clarkson Jake Morley

Penalty SLU Max Mobley - two minutes for interference.

Things getting a little chippy. No penalties dished out, but both teams jawing a little bit here midway through the third period.

Goal SLU Vermeulen - Snuck by the shoulder.

Clarkson hasn't had any significant zone time since the first period. St. Lawrence has dominated since.

Clarkson's Julien Cayer has left the game with a separated shoulder and will not return.

Second period impressions

St. Lawrence played much more deliberately in the second period, setting up the offense and taking good shots instead of any shot. Pete Child again comes through. His name is already known by SLU faithful, but the ECAC will start to take notice. Child already has a hat trick this season — the first defenseman to do so for SLU in 50 year. Now, he scored the go-ahead goal to give SLU a 2-1 lead on a power play. The Saints are now 1-for-3 with the man advantage today.

Remember how I wrote that Robby Moss hasn't had to do much this period? Well, he made all of one save. St. Lawrence dominated the second, as the Saints have all year. It's the third upcoming, though, and St. Lawrence would certainly like a insurance goal.

Second period notes

End of period

McKenzie all alone doesn't score, defender got just enough of his stick to slow him down.

Penalty killed. No real good shots for Clarkson.

Penalty SLU - Flanagan two minutes

St. Lawrence is taking a ton more shots this period. Moss hasn't had to do a whole lot, but when he has, has been playing better than in the first period.

Penalty killed... SLU only a couple decent chances.

Penalty SLU - Freeman - hitting from behind

Goal SLU PETE CHILD (HUGHES)

Bollig's helmet comes flying off in a scrum in front. Penalty to Clarkson Pokulok for roughing - two minutes

Things have slowed a bit, as expected. We'll see how the legs hold up as we go here.

Saints took one great shot that somehow missed. Penalty killed.

St. Lawrence has yet to take a shot on the power play, which carries over into the second period.

Attendance: 2,850

First period impressions

St. Lawrence came out playing much better and much more aggressive. The problem with that was the penalties the Saints took — three in total. Clarkson managed a game-tying goal with on the second power play. Mark Borowiecki scored off an assist from Matt Beca. Beca now has 98 career points.

St. Lawrence scored when Aaron Bogosian deflected a shot in from Derek Keller.

Robby Moss is having an OK night in net through the first period. He's had a number of close calls which aren't typical of his play inside Appleton this season. I expect this will be addressed in the locker room in the intermission. St. Lawrence will be on the power play for 37 seconds to start the second period.

Kyle Flanagan and Jeremiah Cunningham have been relatively quiet, as has Mike McKenzie. McKenzie has fired in a few nice shots. St. Lawrence and Clarkson have taken eight shots each.

Scoring Summary

First Period: 1, SLU, Bogosian (D. Keller, Drewiske), 1:40. 2, CLK, Borowiecki (Beca, Freeman), 9:43 (pp).

Goalies: SLU, Moss (8 shots-7 saves); CLK, Karpowich (8-7).

First period notes

Penalty Clarkson: Matt Beca - Two minutes

Moss continues to allow rebound shots, but it hasn't hurt him really yet. He gave up the power-play goal through the five hole. He's going to have to cover up better in the second period.

Robby Moss made a couple nice save on the penalty kill. St. Lawrence escapes one.

Penalty SLU - Vermeulen: Goalie interference. 13:09

I don't see how this intensity can keep up throughout the game. Right now both teams are flying all over the ice, there are hard hits, players flipping on their heads. St. Lawrence is playing better, but gave up another power play goal. Clarkson is 1-for-2 tonight.

Clarkson goal Mark Borowieki went 5-hole. Becca assist on power play.

Moss is having some trouble covering up.

Penalty SLU - Kyle Flanagan

Penalty killed.

Clarkson isn't getting off a lot of shots on the power play. Nice job on the kill by SLU.

Penalty SLU - Drewiske two minutes - holding

This is an absolutely fierce game right now. Everyone is flying into the boards, with lots of big hits.

Goal SLU: Bogosian (D. Keller) - Came off a deflection.

St. Lawrence has fired in a couple shots from the point, but none has threatened the goal.

We are under way.

Looks like already some tricks. Both teams have different starters than what was listed on the pregame lineup.

Lineup change for SLU:

Forwards: Brandon Bollig, Travis Vermeulen, Alex Curran

Lineup change for Clarkson:

Forwards: Brandon DeFazio, Lauri Tuohimaa, Matt Beca

Defense: Nik Pokulok, Dan Reed.

We're about 30 minutes away from game time. St. Lawrence and Clarkson have taken the ice for warm-ups. The student representation from St. Lawrence is impressive. Check the video below for the "White Out at Appleton."

The overflow from the women's game — a 3-1 St. Lawrence win over Princeton — made the traffic jam huge heading into Appleton tonight. I've finally made it into the press box and have good news for all you St. Lawrence fans:

Kyle Flanagan, Jeremiah Cunningham and George Hughes are all back from injury.

The bad news: Jared Keller will be out tonight as he is still feeling the effects from a concussion.

Here are your starting lineups

Clarkson:

Forwards: Adam Pawlick, Corey Tamblyn, Scott Freeman.

Defensemen: Mark Borowiecki, Andrew Himelson

Goalie: Paul Karpowich (3-6-1).

SLU:

Forwards: Barndon Bollig, Travis Vermeulen, Alex Curran

Defensemen: Jeff Caister and Derek Keller.

Goalie: Robby Moss (5-2-0).

Notes: The "Friends of St. Lawrence Hockey" organization presented the men's and women's team with a check for $5,000 each. The money was raised through 50/50 game raffles, the golf tournament and various other fundraisers.

Bob McKenzie is signing his book before the game and between periods.

Check back throughout the game for updates, analysis and video.
