Robert D. White

CANTON — Robert D. White, Jr. 70, of County Route 27, died peacefully at his home on Wednesday, December 2. He was born in Hadley, NY, the son of Robert D. and Marion Burnham White. He is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Barbara Kubis White, originally of Cooperstown, NY. Two daughters and sons-in-law: Katherine and Andrew Palladino of Greenville, NY and Karen and Lloyd Mori of Hilo, Hawaii; a brother and sister-in-law Richard and Elizabeth White of Queensbury, NY; 2 grandchildren, a stepgrandchild and a great-grandchild.

He attended SUNY School of Forestry at Syracuse University, receiving a Bachelors Degree in 1963. He worked in Forestry Management with Diamond International, Inc. of Ogdensburg for 27 years and then as St. Lawrence County Forester for 10 years, retiring in 2003.

He was a member of the Society of American Foresters, the NYS Forest Practice Board, and the Black River/St. Lawrence River Resources Conservation and Development Forestry Advisory Committee. Past memberships include the Canton Town Planning Board and the Canton Jaycees. He was an enthusiastic reader of local and Adirondack region history and an avid collector of antique and local bottles.

Funeral services will be at the Lawrence Funeral Home, Canton, on Saturday at 11:30 AM with Pastor Donna Doig officiating. Burial will follow in the Brick Chapel Cemetery. Visiting Hours will be Friday afternoon at the funeral home from 3:00 to 6:00 PM.
